Holy cow, it's a little crazy that I graduate in a month! Yikes!
I made some revisions to my thesis this week that I'm feeling pretty good about, just waiting for some feedback from my adviser.
I love my WWII lit class - turned in my final paper proposal this week. I'm gonna write on how war transgresses the characters' sense of security in themselves and in time and consequently warps their previously held notions of love and fidelity. I'm specifically looking at
Put Out More Flags, by Evelyn Waugh (very good book) and
The Heat of the Day by Elizabeth Bowen (also very good).
Garfield visited and it was *awesome*. We even made fun excursions to downtown - twice! It was *crazy*, I'm becoming such a *wild* city girl. We did nutty things like eat *brunch* and *sandwiches* and go *shopping* for my graduation dress. Insane . . .
Then this past weekend, I socialized BOTH Saturday *and* Sunday - what's happening to me?! I hosted another pancake brunch on Sunday, and it was a happy, smashing success. My pancake brunches have become famous as brunches of tasty goodness and pure joy :-P
This weekend, I'm starting this little 4-session "Mini-MBA" program put on by the UChicago Business Consulting Club. So not only will I have an MA in 4 weeks but I'll also have a mini MBA lol! It's just a series of mini lectures going over business and economics fundamentals. I'm looking forward to it!
MEME has a concert tonight, and then another one next weekend. And then that's it! No more mini, fun, part-time job in Chicago. My boss is great, the musicians are all so kind. It's been a surprisingly good job.
Okay, time for me to get on with my day - but not before I post some PICTURES! :)
