Arg, it's still winter - and winter quarter!!

Okay, quick update! (I woke up pre-8a, so I've felt like it's okay for me to catch up on emails and update my blog.)

I had an all-expenses paid interview with Cornerstone Research in Menlo Park last Wednesday (2/16). I unfortunately didn't end up getting the job, but hey, it was a free trip to Cali, which was fun. I got to see Garfield and some family - and it was free, so it was fun. The interview was a good experience too - my first serious interview so far. Hopefully the first of more!

As far as school goes: it's pretty nuts out here, but I'm doing fun. I'm trudging through drafts of my thesis already and working with my precept group on revising my thoughts and argument. I got an A on my Foucault midterm - wazzup! I was stoked :) That's my favorite class.

My poetry class is starting to be less painful - I'm actually even kind of enjoying it, I think? It was pretty miserable at the beginning of the quarter, but I'm starting to figure it out. I'm writing my final paper on a poem I actually love - "Demasiados nombres" by Pablo Neruda - so I'm kind of excited about figuring it out. I'm meeting with the universities Neruda specialist this week to go over the poem.

My community college class is really interesting. I had to give a teaching demo in front of a group of CC instructors a few weeks ago; I got a lot of positive feedback, so that was cool.

Still been applying to jobs, although I'm kind of forcing myself to take a hiatus until I finish up the quarter (only two more weeks, whooooa!), because I need to make sure I take care of my work here right now. I've been searching job postings and such when I can't stand reading, but I'm holding off on working out the applications until I finish school work.

And I've also been making more time for friends and hanging out. I've been a little too irregular with exercise this quarter and it's been taking it's toll; so as of this week, I decided I couldn't take it anymore. So I've been swimming, doing pilates, doing yoga - and I feel *much* better!

Sorry, no fun pictures - I keep meaning to bring my camera when I'm out with friends, but I always forget!

Um, I can't think of anything else major to tell . . . But yeah, things are good, I'm happy - even though I'm also pretty done with this Chicago winter business and I'm already excited about graduating and moving back to Cali. But bottom line, over all, things are very good out here.

  1. I didn't realize what an accelerated program you were in until now. A MA program you finish in a year? Wow!
