First Grade!

I got a B on my first graded paper! I'm pretty happy with it. I think it's a great start: I knew coming here that my writing had *lots* of room for improvement; but it's encouraging to know that I'm not starting at a painful deficit.

I have another paper due Monday, so I'll be talking with Nate, my preceptor, tomorrow to get more feedback on the graded paper and also to talk about how to improve on the next one.

First week is going well. I'm all confused by all the classes I've attended, trying to figure out which ones I like best. The Latin American class today will be the deciding factor: I like the Cultural Policy class, so if I like this one as well, I don't have to bother with changing my mind and choosing one of the other ones I checked out yesterday ("Short Attention Span Fiction", and "The History of Sincerity").

I gotta get Juliano walked and fed so I can start blazing through my reading for tomorrow. So far, I'm en route to getting ahead on my readings so that I can relax when Garfield gets here next week. Oh yeah, did I mention Garfield gets here October 7th? For a four day visit. I'm ridiculously excited. We're doing fine with the distance, but it is emotionally straining and I miss him a crap ton. I'm *reeeeeeeeally* excited for his visit.

  1. I could have sworn I posted on this over a month ago. It was something along the lines of:

I remember when I started school and people told me to take too many classes and drop some, I thought they were dumb. But the more I was in school the more I did it. It's a great way to get a feel for your professors. And Yay Garfield visits!
