About half-way there

So the quarter is almost half way over! It's crazy how fast the days are passing. I'm loving school and I'm feeling really happy here. This us the right thing for me to be doing.

Today will be kind of a random post, of little happenings from the past week.

Oh hey, apparently my latin American studies professor is a big deal:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alma_Guillermoprieto

She's technically not a professor since she's never been to college. She's a super important journalist though, so UofC hired her on this year long etching grant thing they have for super soecial people like her to be visiting professors.

I got a B+ on my second paper in core! I was stoked. Then I turned in a paper on Monday on Hegel - I'm very curious to see how that turned out. Hegel is like impossible.

Juliano is ridiculously cute. I swear, like once z day, some random person will stop me on the street to tell me how handsome he is. I'm so happy he's here, he keeps the apartment a happy place, in spite of all the studying and toiling I do here.

I've started thinking about my research papers for the end of the quarter, so I've been thinking about my thesis and how these papers will contribute to that. It's a little intimidating, but I know I'll figure it out soon enough.

Oh, I got a job! I'm the assistant for the Middle Eastern Music Ensemble (MEME). I think i'll start next week, once I get all my paperwork filled out.

Okay, I have to finish some reading now.

Oh wait! Also, I had my friends Zohar and Elana over last Saturday for pancakes (i only ate one pancake with garfield so i still had room for more when the girls came over) and it was really fun - I made great grandma's pancakes again. It was so fun, I invited my whole precept over for this Saturday for pancakes :) those that have already told me they're coming say they're really excited. So far, there will be seven of us.

Now I'm done.

  1. Oh, that's cool that your school hires "non professors" to guest lecture. It keeps things fresh and gives a different perspective. I had a super genius Physics teacher that was world renowned for proving the speed of gravity as speculated by Einstein. He was a jerk and hated teaching. He told us the first day of class, "I have an office and I have office hours. I'm not telling you where my office is or when my office hours are because it would interrupt my research. Go bother TAs, that's what they are for."

Juliano is ridiculously cute. I need to spend more time with him. I'm glad he's there too. I'm sure he's quite the pick me up for you. :D Plus he'd probably be sad without you.

Congrats on the job. Sounds interesting. Are you an "executive" assistant (ie secretary) or some other type of assistant?

You and Garfield with your pancakes. It's borderline creepy. :P
