"Windy city" is not a joke

Last night started what they're saying is one of the worst wind storms in decades here in Chicago. Winds are supposed to get up to 55 mph. Hopefully Juliano won't get blown away.

Hey guess what??? I got a B+/A- on my Hegel paper! HOLLA! I'm so stoked! I met with Nate today, and he said he was *very* impressed, that it's a very good paper and super smart and I'm improving on every paper and he thinks I'm doing great.

I've also been making some progress on developing my thesis topic: the very generic issue I want to look into is the idea of "Love as Power" in social circumstances, particular within religious and political contexts - hopefully also a literary one? For my Latin American final research paper, I think I'm going to research Liberation Theology; for my Cultural Policy one . . . I haven't framed that one yet. Anyway, I have a 4-5 pg paper due on Thursday in CP, and it'll be about Foucault's ideas of Subjects and Power and the relationships / distinctions he develops, particularly his idea of Western power structures being based on the paradigm of Pastoral Power developed within the Christian / Catholic church.

In other news, Juliano has an itchy, irritated eye that I'm hoping doesn't turn into something that demands a vet visit.

  1. Yay improvements! I'm glad your paper went well. I never heard of Hegel before, looked him up on wikipedia, his work sounds dense.

Huh, your thesis, "Love as Power", sounds interesting. I might have to check that out later.

I hope Juliano's eye is ok and some squirrel didn't fight back.
